About Springfield

The first three years for Springfield were winless and resulted in no higher than 13th place. In their first year, Springfield failed to score a run, losing 3-0 to Amsterdam and 20-0 to Pittsburgh. In 1950, Springfield again lost to Amsterdam (8-2) and then to Holyoke (15-2). The following year had loses to Brooklyn (5-4) and Holyoke (5-0).

After not competing in 1952, the Ludlow Boys Club returned to Johnstown in 1953 and won the franchise's first game: 7-2 over Holyoke. This followed a heartbreaking opening-day loss to New Orleans, 13-12 at Point Stadium. They also lost their third game at Point Stadium, this time 6-5 to Maryland State.

1954 was the best year for Springfield as they finished in 8th place at 2-2 with wins over Schenectady and Brooklyn.
