About Miami

The Miami franchise was to be represented by the highly-touted Florida Bombers. The team competed in the Altoona Regional in 2010 and opened with a 10-inning victory over Philadelphia and an 8-5 victory over host Altoona. On Monday, Miami only need to defeat Philadelphia to advance to Johnstown, whereas the Philadelphia Bandits had to win a triple-header in order to win the regional. After knocking off Altoona 12-0 in the morning, Philadelphia eliminated Miami by scores of 9-4 and 4-2 and advance to the national tournament.

Though undoubtedly stunned by their defeat in 2010, Miami had a direct bid to Johnstown in 2011. On the day they were to arrive, however, tournament officials were informed that bus problems had kept the team in Florida. Officials scrambled to find a replacement and quickly mustered a group from Altoona to ensure that the tournament would compete with 16 teams. The Miami franchise never returned to the AAABA.
